The communication between the staff and students is awful. The only thing that would make me mark it down in facilities is the fact that us students who are paying £9,000 a year still have to pay for printer credit. The course content was good but I wished I had more contact hours. Would recommend studying here ! The organisation is a joke. University of Manchester announces two-week rent reduction, with strikers saying move ‘isn’t good enough’ Rent strike group calls it ‘insulting offer’ Other notable buildings owned by the university are the Whitworth art gallery, which has benefited from a recent £15 million renovation, the Manchester Museum, and the Jodrell Bank Observatory in Cheshire. Pretty buildings and nice volunteering projects. It depends on what modules and course you pick, but the majority of my lecturers were good at what they do. Secondly, teachers at my previous universities were very down to Earth and students were "normal". campus is pretty, courses are good and facilities are good. The Student Union and societies are great! absolutely love it. No campus feeling. United Kingdom. In the first few years we were given regular programming tasks to complete in practical labs with lecturers available for help. I like Manchester. The University of Manchester is considered the largest university in the United Kingdom. Very good ! Most people stay on to life in Manchester after because it’s a smaller cheaper London. A great university in an inexpensive city- one of the best universities for being a student! The wifi isn’t too bad. Overall, a great place. The reputation for teaching has been recognised with a Silver rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. There were very few classes and my polite emails asking for help were ignored. The students union host events often such as Pangaea festival twice a year and Athletics union night every Wednesday which are pretty fun. Our pioneering courses draw on our world-leading research and strong links to global industry. Nice students union and lots of clubs with varieties. It is simply unfair. M. Good condition,except that it seems it is not really conducive for student trying to push himself. Indeed there is a lot of work to do, what else could you expect from an engineering course, but there is also so many extracurricular activities you could take part in. You can easily get a distinction if you write an assignment containing only critiques with no scientific basis, and fail if you link critiques with the knowledge you learn throughout the course. With tutorials in each course, PASS and personal tutorial, you are covered in every possible way. I am a distance learning student and I find very little support from tutors. It feels like a business and students are livestock. No breakfast, cold dinner literally thrown at you because our floor is isolating.Electricity line keeps tripping and so no lunch either;We are expected to study at the end of all this ordeal. You are just a number here. Very big, diverse university. S****** accommodation of any uni I’ve ever been to, good for pastoral support but just go for private accommodation if you don’t want to pay thousands for s***. Manchester is an excellent University and offers everything but its down to you to find it... Im here to go to lectures and then go home... that's just me. A range of courses to suit anyones ambitions The University itself is not to be overshadowed by its vibrant location. Amazing uni overall, amazing place to live, perfect for all students, Everything is really well organized. I have studied at three different universities and there are certain qualities about Manchester that I really don't like. The accommodation people are absolutely useless though. I make two observations. 11/10. Deeply disheartened about how little support I got after been diagnosed with a learning disability. Best uni I have been to, I enjoyed every bit of my time there! Something going on every week and never boring! Every person i've asked either lacks enthusiasm or hates it, even the local students. I only wished there were more restaurants or cafees on campus, so I didn't have to go to town or somewhere else to eat in my lunch times. The university offers flexible, multidisciplinary courses. Lots of places to study, eat, meet people, do sports. They do not provide adequate counselling services and the welfare in halls is abismal. There is a clubs/societies fair at the beginning of the year to showcase the different options, but societies can also be joined online which is pretty useful - good range include sports, creative societies such as fashion or blogging, international societies, societies for different subjects/schools etc so theres something for everyone. I can't really fault the university. As an online student, I hardly ever get the chance to participate in any uni events. I did not feel like a student here, at all. The uni has a very active students union with events such as Pangaea festival in September every year, and creating a student wristband for freshers week with organised events. Never enough spaces to sit in the library. It has a Rural setting, and the campus size is 125 acres. Hope to see you in Manchester! Such a great uni with fab facilities and very nice staff. University is great, eduroam means there's fast wifi across campus, countless social events and societies to join, great sports teams, Really good but a little disappointed in the cost of some societies. Wouldn't want have gone anywhere else, coming from a small city - Manchester as a big city is great and everything around the uni is so easy to find! I'm a current 3rd year CS student at Reading University, whilst I can't speak for the level of help available at Manchester, I would imagine most places are relatively similar. su's alright. Great people and great facilities. Manchester is an amazing city with 100's of bars, clubs and restaurants and is amazing to explore. Eduroam always crashes. Lovely campus with great facilities. Great university to be, a vibrant city and lots of people from abroad! Lots going on and organised by the SU and students are generally very happy here. It is a great uni with great people and a great nightl11/10. Regretting coming here, Great university academically, but when you need help with any paperwork or any other thing it could take a long time, and most time they won't help you. The will not help you if you are international student, they won't support you. Our canteen was shut down for 2-3 weeks to tackle the rat infestation after students spotted dead rats lying about on the canteen floor numerous times. Amazing uni can't recommend enough. It is a very good place to study, there is a vibrant student union and the facilities for my course are wonderful. The societies are dominated by sports and sports alone. Great University to learn and to have fun. I like the fact that everything is largely on one campus, Nice uni, it still has somethings to improve. Very good university with some good and some bad lecturers. The SU was helpful but not that much. I rarely use the students union but the building has a number of food and drink places, careers and finance advice and often has events such as plant sales. The classes are good. If you like your peace and quiet, perhaps not! The university is absolutely HORRIBLE at dealing with and being compassionate for ANY mental health circumstances. The SU is very good, however they are thoroughly pushing the PC vibe which not only leads to some questionable media presence but also, sometimes the actual needs of the majority of students goes out the window. Wifi access is available almost everywhere on campus for free. Unlike other University who have events every week, there are very few student nights here. Big enough that there’ll definitely be people you get on with but maybe too big that you can’t find them, Great university- would definitely reccommend.
